The lone goal of the game came when Spain captain Olga Carmona drilled a low strike past England goalkeeper Mary Earps in the 29th minute. Earps kept her team in the game when she saved a penalty from Jenni Hermoso in the second half, but England could not strike back in the final quarter of the match.
