Following its premiership win, Melbourne City is now eyeing a championship trophy to do the double. But holders Sydney FC won't go down without a fight. Follow live.

After an A-League Women season that saw all sorts of records tumble, the competition's two best teams — Melbourne City and Sydney FC — meet for the last time in its biggest showdown of all, the grand final .

And of those 16 trophies, both the Sky Blues and the Citizens have won four championships each, with Sydney just edging City in overall premiership wins .So, in laywoman's terms: these two clubs have lifted half of the trophies that were ever up for grabs in competition history, with all of those titles shared roughly evenly between them.

Each have had almost opposite trajectories over that long stretch of time, with Sydney FC dominating the early years and the later ones , while City, who entered the league in 2015, immediately dominated the middle .Both clubs have been responsible for producing many of the Matildas who captured our imaginations during the 2023 Women's World Cup, while plenty more internationals have donned either sky-blue jerseys on their own journeys.

A lot of this talent will be on display today, providing all of us a glimpse into not just the future of the Dub, but also the future of the Matildas.and I'm stoked to be in Melbourne for this afternoon's massive decider between premiers Melbourne City and reigning champions Sydney FC.
