A number of buses have been diverted
The fire on Wellington Road/Rathbone Road has forced Arriva to divert a number of services.
Fire crews said they were called to the scene around 4:37pm and that they led one occupant to safety. Mersey Travel said: "Due to a house fire on Wellington Road/Rathbone Road, Arriva 60 service is diverted via Smithdown Road, Penny Lane, Church Road, Picton Road, Mill Lane & Edge Lane, back on route at St Oswald St, in both directions."They said: "Due to a Building fire on Wellington Rd, Services 78 and 79 are diverted via Innovation Blvd, Edge Lane and Mill Lane in both directions, omitting Picton Rd and Wavertee High St. Please allow extra time for your journey.
"Due to a building fire on Wellington Rd, Service 204 will divert via Smithdown Rd, Penny Lane and Church Rd in both directions, omitting a section of Gainsborough Rd, Wellington Rd, Wanertree High St and Picton Rd. Please allow extra time for your journey."
