Nick Saban had his weekly radio show in Tuscaloosa on Thursday night before the Tide take on the Rebels.
Nick Saban received a cheer from the live crowd as he sat down on the set of “Hey Coach’ at Baumhower’s in Tuscaloosa.
-- “What really good offensive coaches do is they understand defense,” and vice versa, Saban said when referencing Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and his father, Monte Kiffin. That knowledge of defensive schemes provides an “advantage” for offensive-minded coaches. Saban said the “really good” coaches can adapt and pivot.
--Gold made it clear that Peewee from Grandbay is “under the weather,” and wasn’t around for the first question of the night. Saban joked about Peewee’s “mental toughness” and wondered if the caller had the ability to “play hurt.””If there’s one thing I hate, is a player messes up and says, ‘My bad.’ We can’t have that man. ... We can’t have re-dos. I used to give my kid re-dos.”
--”We got some practice on it last week,” Saban said about Alabama’s prep against fast-paced offense.
