BREAKING: Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will this morning announce that plans for the state to host the Commonwealth Games in 2026 will be cancelled, the ABC understands.
By Tim CallananBendigo cyclist Alessia McCaig represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year.
"I was really looking forward to competing in front of a home crowd and having the opportunity to have a lot my friends and family there watching me," Ms McCaig said. "Devastating for our athletes, devastating for regional Victoria which would have looked for a boost," she said.
