There are mixed expectations after Liverpool launched an official appeal to rescind Alexis Mac Allister's red card
Liverpool supporters are so far unable to agree whether Alexis Mac Allister's red card will be overturned in time for Sunday's trip to Newcastle.
In aftermath numerous observers have provided their verdicts. Gary Lineker slammed the decision, as did fellow Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer. Former Premier League referee Mike Dean was a rare voice siding with the on-field decision of Thomas Bramall, however another ex-official, Dermot Gallagher, took a firm stance against the call.
The appeal has been filed under 'wrongful dismissal' with the Football Association. They will now review the evidence using an independent regulatory commission and report back their findings later this week.
