Football Insider has been told by Kieran Maguire that Mohamed Salah helping Liverpool reach the top four could be worth more than Saudi's £150million bid.

Al-Ittihad have been told it will take a jawdropping £300million bid for Liverpool to let Mohamed Salah go this week.about the value of Salah both on and off the pitch for Liverpool., the Merseyside club rejected a £150million bid for Salah from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad on deadline day.

Al Ittihad are incredibly eager to make the Egyptian star the next marquee signing to join the Saudi Pro League, but Liverpool have so far rejected their approaches. Salah, 31, has just two years remaining on his contract, but Liverpool are not willing to part ways with him despite the huge offer on the table.

Maguire explained that Liverpool will be focused on Champions League qualification this year given that the 2024/25 competition is adopting a new, more lucrative, format. It’s never been more important to qualify for the Champions League than it has been this seasonThe reason for that is because we’re moving to the new Swiss model in 2024/25 which means that clubs are guaranteed a minimum of an extra two matches.

“If you finish in positions nine to 24 in the new league table it will be an extra four matches because there will be an additional knockout phase. So if you factor in those figures, winning the Champions League could be worth somewhere in the region of £200million in a single season. So I think Liverpool will have taken a look at this and realised that two years of Salah staying potentially could be worth more to them than the £150m offered by Saudi Arabia.
