Graeme Souness is raising money and awareness of a rare disease afteer striking up a friendship with 16-year-old Isla Grist
Graeme Souness is to take part in an 85-mile cycle from Dover to London as part of a relay challenge set up to raise money for DEBRA UK, a charity supporting people with the skin disease Epidermolysis bullosa , also known as butterfly skin. The Liverpool legend will embark on the challenge just months after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Speaking last year, Souness described the condition as 'the most horrendous disease' He said: 'If you're inflated by it, you must wake up every morning and say 'Why me?' It is a desperate situation, and then the parents have to deal with that - and that's what we're doing.' 'I knew nothing about this, I'd never heard of this disease and the vast majority of people out there will know nothing about this disease.
