Liz Truss warns of growing threats from China and Russia | AnnaPattySMH

Britain and Australia have agreed to deepen their economic, security and technology ties to confront growing threats from China and Russia.

“Russia and China are working together more and more as they strive to set the standards in technologies like artificial intelligence to assert their dominance over the West and Pacific through joint military exercises and in space.”Ms Truss is visiting Australia with British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace for discussions with Australian counterparts Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne and Defence Minister Peter Dutton.

“We are standing shoulder-to-shoulder in defence of freedom and democracy and we are determined to face down these growing threats,” she said. “To be clear, that is not about direct military support. That is not on the table from Australia’s perspective. But we will work closely with Ukraine in the coming days and weeks in terms of the challenges they are dealing with and continue to affirm our views on their sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
