The LNP announces a plan to create four new early intervention schools for youth at risk of entering a life of crime. But the state government says the funding announcement doesn't add up.
An LNP state government would commit $40 million to create four early intervention schools to target younger children at risk of becoming youth offenders.
LNP leader David Crisafulli said the four early intervention schools would accompany two youth justice schools for young people on court orders."Another investment that's coming out of the $40 million he's announced for two schools."What we're seeing today is another investment out of the $40 million that cannot deliver."Mr Dick said there had been a 14 per cent reduction in serious youth repeat offending in Queensland in the past six months.
"That's when we're seeing these youth disengage — when they transition from primary school to high school."ABC NewsThe LNP launched the plan at Men of Business Academy in Southport, which would be the first beneficiary of the funding. MOB Academy founder Marco Renai welcomed the announcement and said they currently cater for boys in years 11 and 12 who are not engaging with mainstream schooling.
