At least three people were hospitalized and several children were injured after a pickup truck and a school bus transporting students from a non-district school crashed Friday afternoon at an intersection in South Linden, neighbors told The Dispatch.
The pickup spun like a top around a utility pole, and came to rest near a house on the corner of the intersection. The passenger side of the pickup was heavily damaged. Cannaday said there appeared to be three people in the pickup truck. Witnesses and neighbors said kids were leaving the school bus and sitting in front of a nearby church. All of them were shaken up, some were crying, and a few were bleeding. At least one was taken away in an ambulance.
The bus ricocheted through a front yard and was on a beeline for Brian O'Brien's front porch when it finally came to a stop, it's front end heavily damaged. The bus was operated by USA Transport, but it was not immediately clear what school the students aboard attended. A Columbus City Schools spokesperson said none of the district's students were involved.
