A local council in Adelaide has heard a renewed bid to move the date of Australia Day celebrations for next year.

The Mitcham Council has discussed the possibility of moving its annual Australia Day citizenship ceremony and Australia Day awards outside

of the public holiday.By moving official events to the 25th of January, it would avoid being required to pay staff public holiday penalty rates.
