The work of 15 artists has gone on display in the city centre. Art on the Streets of Preston is a project created by Enjoy the Show’s Garry Cook to showcase the creative artwork of local people. We went to find out more... 🖼️

15 pieces of art, printed on A0-sized boards, have gone on display on the old BHS building hoardings. The disused shopfront has been transformed into a temporary art gallery thanks to the Crowdfund Lancashire project. 50 per cent of the funding, £2,964, was raised via an online Crowdfunder with a substantial pledge from Preston’s independent creative network, the Brewtime Collective. The other 50 per cent of the funding came from Lancashire County Council’s Leisure and Sport Fund.

Illustrator Emily Peet is delighted to see her work on display as part of the Art on the Streets of Preston exhibition. Pic Emily Peet “The piece took me several days to complete, as I developed a unique way of working for this style of illustration. I created the final piece in two different layers, firstly, the black lines with a liquid ink pen, and then on a separate layer, painted the colour with gouache paint. I combined both of these by digitally layering the lines over the paint.”

The print of Shiryn Wynter’s painting of magical Miller Park has been captivating the public. Pic Garry Cook Enjoy the Show Shiryn’s spellbinding artwork has caught the attention of some high-profile clients including Dan Walker, Tamzin Outhwaite, Kerry Katona, Nadiya Bychkova and Sophie Willan amongst others. Her vibrant, uplifting artwork also caught the eye of the Southport Flower Show organisers, where she has been asked to create a solo exhibition for the second year running, as well as appearing in the Sky Arts programme Landscape Artist of the Year.

The exhibition has also offered an opportunity for artists and photographers to exhibit for the first time. Artist Kerry regularly shares her work featuring strong, glamorous womenbut it is her first time exhibiting to the public. Her striking take on Herbert James Gunn’s Pauline in the Yellow Dress is on display.
