There are 33 seats up for grabs in the city.
Voters across the city of Leeds are heading out to choose their next set of councillors.
Leeds City Council is made up of 99 seats, with 33 of them now up for grabs. The council is currently under the control of the Labour Party, who have 56 seats. The Conservative Party make up the main opposition, with 21 seats. They are followed by the Liberal Democrats, on seven seats, the Morley Borough Independents on six, the Greens on four, the Garforth and Swillington Independents on three and the Social Democratic Party on one seat. There is also one vacant seat.This year, there is a chance that Labour may lose control of the council, which they have controlled continuously since 2011. However, they will be looking to defend this majority and even take some seats from the opposition parties.
The Conservatives, as the main opposition party in Leeds, will be looking to take seats from Labour, but equally, may find themselves on the defensive instead.
