More than 10,000 wild Brumbies could soon be culled in an effort to control their numbers by the NSW Government. 9News DETAILS:

More than 10,000 wild Brumbies could soon be culled to control their numbers with the NSW Government claiming there could be up to 23,000 in Kosciuszko National Park alone.the Minns Government"I can prove that the numbers currently circulated by the government are completely false and misleading and represent a gross misrepresentation of facts," Snowy Horseriders, Huts and Brumbies President Alan Lanyon told Today.

Alan likened the method to the Guy Fawkes River National Park cull of 2000 which saw over 600 wild horses shot at from helicopters. "What they've done is leave a number of horses in an area known as Karungo and they haven't tried to remove any of those horses," he said. An experienced shooter himself, Alan said while there is some environmental damage in the national park from the Brumbies, the current proposal is not the way to go.
