A security alert in Londonderry ends with a suspicious object being declared nothing untoward by police
A security alert in Londonderry which led to a number of people having to leave their homes has ended.
It followed the discovery of a suspicious object in the Glen Road area of the city shortly after 09:30 GMT on Monday, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said. Officers added the object was "nothing untoward" and that it has been taken away for further examination.PSNI Insp Craig thanked the local community, "in particular those who were directly affected, for their cooperation and assistance as we worked to keep people safe".
