England could still draw the series by winning both of the remaining T20s and next week’s pink-ball Test at the MCG, but the tourists have looked completely out of their depth against the powerhouse Australians.Australian opener Beth Mooney, who cracked a half-century in the first T20, dodged questions about a potential whitewash, which has never been achieved since the multi-format system was introduced in 2013.
“Hopefully the conversation in the dressing room is we’ve got to play on Thursday like we’re on no points and it’s the start of the series,” Mooney said during the post-match press conference on Monday.“I think the cricket karma gods will probably go against me but let’s just get it to 10-0 and we’ll talk about that again.
