Union for nonteaching employees accuses district of threats, harassment and attempting to block a strike voteLos Angeles Times via Getty ImagesLOS ANGELES—Bus drivers, special-education aides, custodians and other employees in Los Angeles schools are planning to walk off the job starting Tuesday, triggering a strike that workers say they hope will lead to a contract that pays them livable wages.
Technically, the strike that is expected to shut down schools for three days isn’t about the 30% raise that Local 99 of the Service Employees International Union has been demanding of the Los Angeles Unified School District for its 30,000 members.
