In just three days after its western launch, Lost Ark has acquired 4.7 million new registered accounts with 55% in the Americas and 45% in Europe.
In just three days, Lost Ark managed to gain nearly 5 million new players following its western debut. The expansion of the MMORPG had a turbulent beginning, but that did not stop Lost Ark from becoming Steam's fourth-biggest game just one day after its launch.
In the summer of 2021, it was officially announced that the Korean action-oriented MMORPG would be coming to both North America and Europe later in the year. Lost Ark's western expansion ended up being pushed back to February 11, 2022, but that did not stop Amazon Games' latest title from reaching immense levels of success right out of the gate.
The immense success of Lost Ark's western launch does have some notable drawbacks. Due to the massive increase in player volume, queue times have lengthened considerably and frustrated a large portion of the game's community. There have also been lingering queue errors that have managed to persist even after the developers implemented some server maintenance to do away with the errors.
While Amazon Games' was certainly hoping for a successful launch, it is clear that the developer was not anticipating player numbers on this scale. Given that the count has only gone up in light of the early stage hiccups, that is a good sign that there is a substantial player base to be found and maintained in the west. With the likes of New World and Lost Ark on its resume, Amazon Games appears to be positioning itself as one of the top developers working today.
