The Albanese government has left a gaping $7.4 billion hole in the federal budget after failing to properly account for public servant wage increases.
The Albanese government has left taxpayers on the hook for a $7.4 billion budget blowout after failing to include the costs of public servant wage increases in its financial projections.
It has anticipated that public servant salary costs will remain flat at $30 billion until at least 2028. In response to the findings, Nationals Leader David Littleproud told Sky News the federal treasury had “lost control of the economy”. “They're in the process of adding 36,000 Canberra-based public servants right now but they haven't even budgeted properly for the public servants that are already there," Mr Taylor said.“This is a government that says it's fighting inflation, but we know the number one thing you have to do to fight the inflation is to manage the growth in government spending.”With our pay rises for award wage workers, people are earning more.
