Today host Karl Stefanovic has said he is 'really upset' with the cost of Australia's popular 'schnitty' after he was told how much one Sydney venue was charging for the meal.
During a live cross on Tuesday morning, Stefanovic was in shock when reporter Lucy McLeod informed him and co-host Sarah Abo that the price of a chicken schnitzel and chips had risen to almost $40 at one Sydney pub.
Stefanovic agreed it was far cheaper to make the meal at home, saying:"You just whack it in the air fryer and Bob's your uncle." However under new owners, the bowling club is a private restaurant which means they don't have gambling subsidies to compensate higher prices. Interest rates are expected to increase further in the coming months as the Reserve Bank of Australia seeks to reduce inflation as a priority. , with a 25 basis points increase to 3.35 per cent.
