Louisiana woman, 28, posed as 17-year-old high schooler: cops
A 28-year-old Louisiana woman and her mother were arrested this week after authorities learned that she fraudulently enrolled in a local high school by posing as a teenager.
Martha Jessenia Gutierrez-Serrano and her mother, Marta Elizeth Serrano-Alvarado, 46, of Boutte, were taken into custody and charged with injuring public records on Tuesday,“On Monday, May 29…detectives were notified by officials with the St. Charles Parish Public Schools of a possible adult attending Hahnville High School…during the 2022-2023 school year,” the official statement read.
The police subsequently learned that Serrano-Alvarado had been enrolling her daughter at the school as a 17-year-old using a fake passport and birth certificate. If found guilty of the charges, Serrano-Alvarado and Gutierrez-Serrano each face up to five years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines,

William Henry Johnson, a Black veteran of World War I and a Medal of Honor recipient. While serving in France in 1918, Johnson was wounded 21 times while he fought off a German night raid. His brave actions were recognized nearly a century later when he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2015. Fort Johnson was previously named after a Confederate commander, Leonidas Polk. The names of nine Army posts that commemorated Confederate officers are being changed as part of the military’s efforts to address historic racial injustice.
