‘Lovely to have a ski season opening with snow’: NSW slopes blanketed white | AngusGthompson
The NSW ski season has kicked off with the state’s alpine peaks blanketed in snow, and more falls expected throughout the week.
Weather bureau meteorologist Helen Reid said the “nice white blanket” covering the alpine region would continue to be topped up over the coming days, saying another two centimetres or so had fallen since this morning.“We are expecting its going to be maintained … [and] will continue on the peaks into the new week as well,” Ms Reid said.
Clear skies for the rest of the weekend are set to give way to another cold front bringing rain across much of the state, as well as thunderstorms. But maximum temperatures in Sydney are expected to hover between 19 and 20 degrees, far above the 10.3 degree maximum when Sydney shivered through its coldest day in almost four decades on Thursday.
Meanwhile Thredbo Resort has said on social media there was 60 centimetres of snow on the slopes and 25 centimetres in the village.
