ALERT: People using Lucas' Papaw Ointment are being urged to immediately check their products. Several batches have been found to be contaminated and immunocompromised people could become ill if exposed to them. 9News Affected batch numbers:
's medicine regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration , has issued an urgent recall of the particular products, which may contain microbiological contamination.
The microorganisms some batches are contaminated with have been identified as Aspergillus tubingensis, Sordaria humana, Penicillium paneum and Paenibacillus glucanolyticus.The TGA has advised these moulds and bacteria pose minimal risk to most people, but that people who are immunocompromised could become ill if exposed to them.Products with the following batch numbers are affected:
