After a retrial at Manchester Crown Court last month, she was found guilty of trying to kill another child, known only as Baby K.

The CPS has admitted that major evidence showing which time staff entered and left the baby unit Lucy Letby worked in was incorrect.

Prosecutor Nick Johnson KC told the court during the retrial that the data showing which nurses and doctors swiped in and out of the intensive care ward had been "mislabeled". Conservative MP David Davis has written to the service's chief crown prosecutor, Sarah Hammond, asking her to explain which timing errors were made as a matter of urgency. He also asked her to detail how the errors were related to the prosecution's case.

The prosecution had argued that consultant Dr Ravi Jayaram had found Letby standing over Baby K's crib on February 17, 2016 at around 3.50am. He noticed that the baby's condition was rapidly deteriorating and that the vital breathing tube had been dislodged. Top news stories today At the retrial, both sides accepted that the mistake was genuine, leading to the nurse being convicted of Baby K's attempted murder.
