National Highways has put in place a diversion that avoids the motorway entirely.
Traffic is building on the M25 around London as a result of the closure Major disruption is expected just outside of London this morning, after the entire eastbound portion of the M26 was closed following a fatal van crash. A white VW Caddy hit a blue BMW 1 Series at around 11.02pm yesterday, with emergency services arriving on the site of the incident near Sevenoaks at around 1am.
National Highways has put in place a diversion that avoids the M26 entirely on the carriageway leading from London to Kent. Its website states: ‘There is currently no estimate available for when the carriageway will re-open, however with investigations still ongoing and recovery and clear up required following completion it is expected this morning’s peak period will be affected.
