UK political strategist John McTernan says people will be looking up to French President Emmanuel Macron to “thread the needle” with a peace deal that is acceptable to Ukrainians and Russians.

“We heard from President Zelensky, he will put any peace deal to a referendum,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

Mr McTernan said Mr Macron “still has the ambition” for Europe as he is the most senior figure in the European Union.
