The fairytale residence of Sydney’s World War II “Dancing Man” has sashayed onto the market with price expectations of about $15 million.
Featuring six bedrooms and a storybook facade that resembles a mythical gingerbread house, the 1850s homewas the longtime home of the late Patricia and Frank McAlary.
But later in life was revealed to be the “Dancing Man” after it was discovered he was the joyous gentleman caught on film leaping and twirling his hat in the air as Sydneysiders celebrated the end of World War II on VP Day 1945. Although Mr McAlary didn’t put his hand up immediately, he eventually did under pressure from colleagues and friends.Inside the rare trophy home there is a grand entrance hall, multiple living areas, a home office, four bathrooms and a cellar.
