Fewer than a quarter of Australia’s athletes will participate in the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Paris on Friday night amid concerns about a lack of toilets on the boats that will transport them down the River Seine.

Australia n Chef de mission Anna Meares raises concerns over floating Paris Olympic Opening Ceremony as fewer than a quarter of Aussie athletes will participate

Australia has 460 athletes competing in the Paris Games, but Meares said just 80 were expected to take part in the opening ceremony. However, concerns have been raised that many of the boats will not have toilets, a potentially problematic issue given athletes will by hydrating ahead of their events.“No, we don’t know . I’m waiting on that information from the briefing this morning,” Meares said on Wednesday.

“I think it will be a pretty cool experience because it’s on a boat. I think it’s a bit different from walking around. At least I don’t have to walk I can just stand still and wave around, so I’m happy with that.”“The opening ceremony is something I’ve looked forward to since I was a kid,” she said.
