For the first time in 15 years, the Bunnings sausage sizzle will increase in price in response to the cost of living crisis. 7NEWS

On Wednesday, Bunnings announced that it had “significant requests” from community groups and the change will come into effect on Saturday, July 23.Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free onThe price of each snag in bread will be raised from $2.50 to $3.50 Australia-wide. This price will be the same with or without onions.

The price of drinks will stay the same at $1.50 and every cent raised goes toward the community groups running the barbecues.Bunnings said the community groups and charities running the sausage sizzles had informed them of having raised less money in recent months due to the increased cost of goods.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult couple of years with the lack of fundraising opportunities and the pressure on community group services and support continues to be a growing need in our wider community. “We are committed to providing meaningful support to enable community groups to keep doing their essential work, and we know that the sausage sizzle has been a vital fundraising opportunity, helping many groups big and small stay afloat over the years.”
