Warragamba’s spill gates were activated at about 7.30am on Sunday when the dam rose eight centimetres above its full capacity. Nearby suburbs have been drenched by over 25 millimetres of rain in 24 hours, with the dam's vast catchment area of 9000km² being inundated over the past fortnight.
