BART did not say how long they expected the shutdown to last.
BART trains on the Antioch line were halted between Oakland and Pleasant Hill on Monday morning, following an equipment problem on the track, the agency said.
At 10:22 a.m., BART put out a statement saying that all service between the Pleasant Hill and Rockridge stations had stopped. BART did not say immediately what equipment failure took place. The Walnut Creek, Lafayette and Orinda stations all are stops between those Rockridge and Pleasant Hill. The line serves trains going toward Antioch from San Francisco and going to San Francisco Airport from Contra Costa County.
Contra Costa County Connection busses were offering free service to BART customers at all of the stations that were affected by the shutdown. Major delays of at least 20 minutes remained in effect at 10:50 a.m.. BART said it was recovering from the problem but it was unknown how long the delays would last.
