A man has been charged with murder over the alleged fatal stabbing of a rugby league player outside a fast food restaurant in Sydney's inner west.

Police and paramedics found Sitaleki Filihiahekava unconscious on the footpath of Marrickville Rd, however, he could not be saved by the medical team.
