'Swimmers were being evacuated in swimming costumes', eyewitness says
A large-scale emergency response has been reported at a swimming pool in Stockport this evening.
Parents claim they have been evacuated following an incident at the Life Leisure Grand Central on Wellington Road in the town centre. A number of emergency vehicles have been pictured parked outside the leisure centre including police and paramedics.The exact nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police, North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
One dad told the M.E.N he had received a call from his wife who said she and their four children had been asked to evacuate the swimming pool and move to a nearby Premier Inn. Another eye witness said people had been evacuated from the area and that 'multiple' emergency services had rushed to the scene.We will be bringing you all the latest updates from this breaking incident below.
