A fire has broken out at a Woolworths shopping centre in regional South Australia. The South Australia Country Fire Service issued a warning regarding the fire at the Woolies in Stirling Mall on Mount Barker Rd in Stirling, southeast of Adelaide. Exclusive footage obtained by 7NEWS reveals fire from inside a Woolworths spreading quickly to the ceiling as shoppers flee the blaze. There is also video of evacuated shoppers hurrying outside as thick plumes of smoke blanket the area.
“The location of the incident is Mount Barker Rd in Stirling between Druids Avenue and Johnston St.” Witnesses in the area have reported hearing explosions, while the CFS also warned of smoke exposure impacting Mount Barker Road and surrounding streets. “It is recommended that doors and windows are closed and persons remain indoors.” Social media has also revealed heavy smoke in the area. One bystander reported on X, formerly Twitter, that explosions at the scene were forcing CFS crews back.
