Two major fires are burning across the Peel region in Western Australia’s southwest, fanned by strong winds and high temperatures.

An emergency warning has been issued for a blaze burning near Serpentine Dam, which was ignited by a lightening strike and has since razed 970 hectares of land. Anyone in the area bound by Mathews Road, Scarp Road and the South Western Highway is being advised to monitor the conditions carefully.
