A large-scale search for a missing 12-year-old boy in Sydney's south-west has entered its third day.

A major search operation for missing 12-year-old Hussein Al Mansoory, who is autistic and non verbal, has entered its third day after he disappeared on Saturday morning in Sydney's south-west.Hussein Al Mansoory, who lives with down syndrome and is autistic, has been missing since he was seen running from Auburn Memorial Park towards the intersection of Station Road and Rawson Street at Auburn about 10.30am on Saturday.

Police confirmed with SkyNews.com.au the search on Monday will focus around the Auburn area, but crews will scan"across Sydney" for the missing boy. Inspector Mark Wakeham said Hussein was last seen about 9pm on Saturday near Norval Street and Hevington Road in Auburn. However, Hussein had walked off before officers arrived.

Police confirmed the 12-year-old had not caught a train after conducting numerous inquiries at Auburn Station. Inspector Wakeham said the fact Hussein is non-verbal"definitely heightens" concerns for his safety and makes the search"significantly more difficult".Inspector Wakeham said there was nothing to suggest anything sinister had occurred in relation to Hussein's disappearance. Hussein is described as being of slim build and Middle Eastern appearance with short, black hair.
