The first of two Qantas flights organised to bring Australians escaping Lebanon back home has left Sydney and is set to touch down in Cyprus this afternoon.
The first of two Qantas flights scheduled to retrieve Australian citizens fleeing Lebanon has departed Sydney and will arrive in Cyprus on Monday afternoon.
They will then be flown to their nearest home domestic airport that Qantas operates to after the plane lands in Sydney on Tuesday night. The travel time will make it one of the longest flights in the world, up there with the likes of the Dallas Forth Worth, Texas to Melbourne route and Perth to Paris.
These Qantas services are in addition to another connecting flight arriving in Sydney from Cyprus at about 7pm on Monday. It is understood there are as many of 349 Australians and family members on this plane.
