Adam Bandt has launched a scathing attack on Labor over the nation’s rental crisis during his National Press Club address.

The Greens Leader accused Labor of making the rental crisis “worse” and slammed the government for “pressuring” the Greens to support their “weak” Housing Australia Future Fund bill.

“There is a full-blown nationwide rental crisis and that needs to be confronted,” Mr Bandt said on Wednesday. “The Prime Minister’s scorn shows he hasn’t kept up with the sea change in Australia’s housing system,” he said. “If Labor wants our support on its housing bill, it needs to come to the table on the rental crisis and on building more public and affordable housing.”

'We grew defence spending from 1.56 per cent of GDP up to two per cent of GDP … none of the things that are being talked about in the DSR would be possible had we not done that.'
