AKRON, Ohio — A 29-year-old woman escaped serious injury Monday when she was attacked during an attempted robbery while she sat in her car at a red light at an intersection near Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. According to police, the attack occurred at about 4:42 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar Street and Dart Avenue. While the woman waited for the light to turn, an unknown male opened the door to her car, punched her in the face multiple times and shouted “give me!”
Police say the woman was on speakerphone with her husband when the attack occurred and believe it might have prevented the situation from becoming worse. The suspect ran from the area empty-handed and the woman was able to call police moments later.
