Man charged with manslaughter after sailor found dead in Poole Harbour
Chris Hopkins, chief coach at Weir Wood Sailing Club near Ashurstwood, East Sussex, said: "David and his family have been popular members of our sailing club for many years.
"David was a core member of the club's youth programme and remained firm friends with the other youngsters who came through the programme at the same time."Over the years we watched him grow into an athletic, confident and capable young man who had considerable success racing at national level. "He took these skills with him to Bristol University where he was an important member of the sailing club.
"He went on to join the British Keelboat Academy where he developed a love of keelboat sailing. With his sailing abilities and infectious personality he was in constant demand as a yacht crew."All at the club are shocked and saddened by this tragic accident.
