A young man has died a week after he was bashed during a night out on the Gold Coast , sparking a murder investigation amid the search for his killers. The 22-year-old man’s father announced his death, which has been confirmed by police, on Saturday after his son suffered critical head injuries on The Esplanade at Burleigh Heads about 2.30am on September 22. He said his son was the victim of a “coward punch”.
“Anyone with intelligence on the person or persons responsible” is urged to immediately come forward to police, Knowles said, while the appeal for information extends to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time. He said it’s in the killers’ “benefit to come forward now ... before we identify and locate them”. Knowles said he was “not aware of” any conflict between the victim and his killers before the attack, and there was no evidence of robbery being a motive.
