A 50-year-old man died on Wednesday after he was involved in an alleged altercation with a taxi driver in the Darwin suburb of Casuarina last week.

Police said the man, 50, allegedly assaulted the taxi driver in Casuarina last Thursday evening before the driver, 25, allegedly struck the man who fell back and hit his head on the road.Police said the "driver allegedly moved the man from the roadway and spoke with the man's family member before leaving the scene in the taxi"."At this stage no charges have been laid and he does not remain in custody," police said.
