Police have arrested a man in connection with a 2021 fatal shooting in Second Ward.
Guy Cornell Jones, 30, has been charged with murder in the death of Jason Smith-Jones, 26, court records show.
Officers in October 2021 found a man with a gunshot wound at an apartment in the 6000 block of Schroeder Street, according to the Houston Police Department. The man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s mother told investigators she’d been asleep when she heard a gunshot and then found her son laying on the kitchen floor, officials said.
A witness told police they saw a man fleeing from the scene with a gun in his hand, according to police.
