Christopher Shad Sharp, 39, was arrested on a charge of failing to stop and render aid in connection with a fatal vehicle crash that occurred May 7 on Culebra Road.SAN ANTONIO — A driver accused of fleeing the scene of a West Side crash that resulted in another driver’s death was arrested Wednesday for failing to stop and render aid, according to a police affidavit.

Police said that Christopher Shad Sharp, 39, while driving west on Culebra Road in a GMC Yukon at about 5:30 p.m. on May 7, struck the driver’s side of a Ford Focus carrying two people after he ran a red light at Alamo Down Parkway.‘Like it’s a speedway’: The deadliest road in San Antonio has claimed more than 40 lives in the last decade

The driver and passenger in the Focus were taken to University Hospital, where the driver died from injuries sustained in the collision. The passenger suffered serious bodily injury, including a broken shoulder, the police affidavit states. When a San Antonio police officer arrived at the crash site to assess the scene and provide traffic control, Sharp emerged from his SUV and fled on foot, the affidavit states., excluding freeways, a San Antonio Express-News analysis of data from the Texas Department of Transportation shows. Since 2012, roughly 50 of 700 fatal crashes in San Antonio recorded by state officials were on Culebra.
