Richmond Grant, 28, of Oldham, is on trial at Minshull Street Crown Court
A man allegedly knocked his girlfriend out and carved ‘mine’ into her back in what prosecutors allege was a ‘controlling relationship’. Richmond Grant, 28, is on trial at Minshull Street Crown Court charged with nine offences including engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour; theft; criminal damage; assault and false imprisonment.Jurors heard that Mr Grant, of Oldham, has previously pleaded guilty to two separate offences of criminal damage, in which he damaged windows of her home.
Ms Williams said that Mr Grant would ‘punch’ the woman during consensual sex, causing bruising, and would strangle her. During one incident she told him not to do it as she didn’t like it, but he told her to ‘shut the f*** up and get used to it,” jurors heard. Mr Grant later admitted smashing the window, and has since pleaded guilty to a second offence of criminal damage.
“The defendant started to throw Xbox games around, he threw a glass at her and threw her mirror,” Ms Williams said. “She said he then grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the room.
