Three police officers were hospitalised after being assaulted by a man and two women in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. The trio allegedly approached the officers who were responding to a disturbance and launched an unprovoked attack.

A man and two women have been charged over an alleged unprovoked assault on three police officers that left them hospitalised in Brisbane . The officers — a 30-year-old male sergeant, a 56-year-old male senior constable and a 30-year-old female constable — were on patrol near Brunswick Street and Wickham Street in Fortitude Valley about 4am today. They were responding to a disturbance at a nearby business and were talking to those involved when a man and two women allegedly approached them.

The trio, who were uninvolved in the disturbance, then allegedly assaulted the officers in what police are calling an unprovoked attack. The man and two women were then taken into custody and the officers received assistance for their injuries. Police have since charged the man — a 23-year-old from Caboolture — with two counts of serious assault on a police officer, affray in a public place while adversely affected and obstructing a police officer. The two women — an 18-year-old from Torquay and a 19-year-old from Seven Hills — were both charged with two counts of serious assault on a police officer. The older woman is set to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today while the younger one is scheduled to appear at the same court on February 26.
