A second woman – the driver – had also been shot. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Birmingham East Precinct officers were dispatched just after 6 p.m. Saturday to a report of a person shot in the 6800 block of 66th Street South. They arrived on the scene to find a man unresponsive from a gunshot wound, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.Police issued a lookout bulletin for a vehicle containing the possible shooter.
When officers approached the vehicle, they found a woman inside, also unresponsive from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene. “We do believe the male shot the female ,’’ he said. “We’re still trying to determine how he was shot.”
