Man arrested as woman fighting for life after being hit by van on busy main road
A man has been arrested following a horror crash in Bury which left a woman fighting for her life in hospital.
The woman was rushed to Salford Royal Hospital from the scene with head injuries. The main road was closed off both ways between the junctions of Burrswood Avenue and Eastham Avenue throughout the day as investigations were carried out.Police investigating the collision have confirmed a 26-year-old man, who was the driver of the van, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Her injuries were described as 'life threatening' by police on Tuesday. Pictures from the scene show a huge cordon in place, with multiple police vehicles at the scene following the crash. An air ambulance was also sent to the incident, along with paramedics.The Moorside Action Team, made up of local councillors, wrote on Facebook following the collision: "Our thoughts are with the victim and we’ll continue to do all we can to make Walmersley Road safer for all users.
