Police in Greece have arrested a 31-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of Australian underworld figure John Macris.
Police have arrested a Bulgarian man and are now seeking his brotherThe Bulgarian man was arrested on Tuesday in the Glyfada neighbourhood of Athens over the execution-style killing in October last year.
CCTV captured the assassination, its footage showing a man in a baseball cap firing a 9mm handgun through the side window of Macris' car, and then pursuing him and continuing to fire as Macris ran from the car.The police will hold a press conference at 7pm tonight [AEDT] to provide further details, but a spokeswoman confirmed the arrest and told ABC News they are also searching for the Bulgarian's 35-year-old brother.
Police have been investigating Macris' ties to the local drug trade, after being linked to the attempted murder of Sydney identity Fadi Ibrahim.Previously his former Sydney lawyer Brett Galloway described him as a low-level drug-dealer.Macris was establishing a security company in Athens at the time of his death, and was married to a Greek reality television model.
